Hey, thanks for stopping by The Life Nostalgic. I’m Reb Stevenson, the CEO of this operation. I am also the janitor.
Here is everything you need to know about The Life Nostalgic Blog:
Where do you live, Reb?
I live in Victoria, Canada. I am, however, British at heart. I’ve travelled to Britain 13 times, and have spent a total of 22 months there. Wherever I may be, I intend to visit intriguing historical places and bring you some inspiring vignettes of traditional living. I’m always on the hunt for cool/kitschy/retro coffee shops and restaurants like The Tomahawk in Vancouver, Town Topic in Kansas City and The Rathskeller in Victoria.
What is your job?
I am formally trained in journalism. A few years ago, I had a travel column in The Toronto Star and I regularly made a fool of myself talking into a camera in crowded European streets for my YouTube videos.
Now my boyfriend and I have an internet video series for kids (and awesome parents) called Pancake Manor.
What is The Life Nostalgic all about? Do you always wear your hair in an elaborate vintage style?
There’s no doubt about it, I do have a fondness for historical garb and hot rollers. But for everyday life, I spring for hints of retro rather than the full-blown costume. Besides, The Life Nostalgic isn’t about playing dress-up – it’s more of a state of mind; it’s cherry picking some of the best ideas from yesteryear. It’s a blog for modern traditionalists. You know what I romanticize most about the past? The do-it-yourself spirit; the self-sufficiency! Though I delight in donning a dress, I’m just as keen on rolling up my sleeves and getting covered in dirt. Therefore, The Life Nostalgic is going to explore things like cooking, building, sewing and growing.
Who is asking these questions?
I am asking myself these questions. But I’m using a different voice, so it works.
That’s all for now! I hope you’ll join me on my journey back to yesterday, today.
